Join me "Sue's MG Spitfires" in supporting the MGFA Walk!
I have been learning to live with MG for the past 7 years. It has affected my entire life. I had to stop working. The active part of my life is almost non-existent. My relationships changed. My outlook changed. My dreams, expectations and goals changed. None of it was easy. With MG, came the cancer. Neither one of these is cureable. I will continue to treat and live with them until I no longer can. It is not uncommon for people with one autoimmune disease to develop others. I now have Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. So in additon to muscle weakness and difficulty breathing I also have joint and muscle pain. I had to give up some of the things I enjoyed the most: skiing, hiking, traveling, laughing, last minute jaunts with friends....
I know it sounds like I'm complaining. I'm not. It's just my new normal - my reality. I try every day to be positive and share the good in my life. I have been able to grow closer to my family. I was able to spend time with my parents before they passed (both from cancer). I am able to slow down (not by choice lol) and enjoy the small things...hummingbirds, the smell of flowers, shadows of trees on the lawn. My story continues each day. In the last 7 years I have spent many many days, weeks, etc in hospitals and treatment centers. I consider this time for me to be able to educate medical staff on MG and what it entails.
MG and Thymic cancer are rare. Neither is cureable....YET. With your help, MGFA can continue to support research for new treatments and to one day find a cure. I do this for the next generation of people with MG. Small children are affected as well. Imagine your childhood without birthday parties, climbing trees, riding a bike or just hanging out with friends. Imagine staying home and just sleeping because you have no strength for anything else. Imagine infusions monthly or weekly for days at a time. I don't have to imagine this...it is my story and it is the story of many children. Please help to give a child back their childhood and make memories with their family and friends.
Anything you can donate is truly and gratefully appreciate by me and MGFA. I love you all.
Please register to join me OR make a pledge to help me reach my goal! I hit my $1K goal for June (MG Awarenss month). I am now striving for the next $1K before Sept (Virtual MG Walk).
